First published in 2009 by London and Philadelphia based business book publisher Kogan Page, and since translated into several languages around the world, “Understanding Digital Marketing” (UDM) is a book for entrepreneurs, business professionals, SMEs and students.
It quickly became a “Go-to” resource for those seeking a solid grounding in the fundamentals of digital: people looking for a platform of understanding from which to springboard their own digital marketing initiatives, studies or careers. UDM hit the Amazon bestseller lists several times, and was regularly the number one selling book in various categories, and became required reading for students on the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) digital marketing certification programmes.
I co-authored the first two editions of Understanding Digital Marketing with Damian Ryan, before I decided it was time to explore some of the other projects perpetually simmering on the back-burner in 2013.
Calvin was an inspiration to work with on our book. – Damian Ryan, Founding Partner, Mediaventura
Currently in its third edition, the book has evolved into a more collaborative endeavour now — bringing together disparate voices from across the digital industry to offer insight, perspective and interpretation on the constantly evolving digital marketing landscape. It is a very different book now, but is still built on the solid foundation we built in those first two editions.
It’s a project… and a piece of work… that I remain immensely proud of.
